Abidjan – On Monday, AfDB President Akinwumi Adesina commended Morocco for its progress under the reign of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

“Thanks to His Majesty’s enlightened vision, Morocco achieved major progress across multiple sectors”, Adesina said during a press conference as part of the AfDB’s annual meeting, held on 26-30 May in Abidjan.

Concerning the "outstanding" collaboration between Morocco and the AfDB, Adesina highlighted various initiatives funded by the African entity, including specifically the Tanger Med Port project along with the development of the Nador West Med port complex.

"The AfDB has consistently supported and will keep on backing Morocco in its efforts," he asserted, highlighting particularly the nation's advancements in broadening social protection measures.

The head of the AfDB also praised Morocco for successfully hosting the past two editions of the Africa Investment Forum.

The theme of this year's Annual Meetings is "Enhancing Africa's Capital for African Growth," with an emphasis on utilizing the continent's people, nature, finances, and commerce to drive Africa's economic restructuring.

This gathering brings together over 3,000 participants, and marks the 60th annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the Bank and the 51st annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the African Development Fund.
