Maynilad Repairs Continue: Water Service Disruption Persists in the Philippines

Some Maynilad clients in certain regions will continue experiencing water supply disruptions on Sunday, June 8, 2025, since the firm remains focused on fixing a broken water pipeline in Manila.

Maynilad has announced that water supply disruptions will persist on Sunday affecting approximately 352,000 of their clients across several areas in Metro Manila—specifically Manila, Las Piñas City, Parañaque City, and Pasay City—and various locations in Cavite including Rosario, Bacoor City, Cavite City, Imus City, Kawit, and Noveleta. This information was shared through official posts on their social media platforms.

"The excavation of the site was completed this morning, and they have started the dewatering process again to expose the damaged part of the large pipe," the company stated.

The digging at the location wrapped up earlier today, and they will begin pumping out water to reveal the broken water pipe.

"Maging though our field teams continue their work, some activities at the sites are delayed due to heavy rain. This is also to ensure the safety of our personnel," it further stated.

Even though our field crews have been consistently working, the repair activities onsite decelerated due to the heavy rainfall. This measure ensures the safety of our team members.

"Because of this, we need to extend the service disruption for the affected customers," the company stated.

Maynilad announced that their mobile tankers would once more traverse various neighborhoods on Sunday to provide purified water.

They have additionally placed fixed water tanks in certain regions to supply water to consumers as repairs continue.

On Friday, Maynilad got a notification from the city engineer of Manila about an unusually powerful surge of water at the building location for the new Pritil Public Market in Tondo.

A subcontractor inadvertently struck Maynilad's 2.2-meter diameter water pipe.

Consequently, Maynilad clients in the aforementioned regions were affected. water service interruption beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, and planned to conclude by 10 a.m. on Sunday, June 8.

Maynilad stated that their field crews have been operating non-stop to complete the repairs. They will provide updates on any progress.

The company asked the public for understanding due to the inconvenience the incident caused.

In the meantime, Maynilad mentioned that they have already communicated with the third-party contractor, who assured them of taking responsibility for what happened.

"Looks like this was not coordinated with us early enough, so we are now reaching out to them directly. Absolutely, they need to provide answers... They cannot just ignore their responsibilities," Jennifer Rufo, the head of Corporate Communications for Maynilad, stated during an interview on Super Radyo dzBB on Sunday.
