Aussie Heavyweight Justis Huni Stunned by One-Punch KO in Interim WBA Title Fight
- Fabio Wardley trailed but managed to halt Justis Huni of Australia.
- Aussie seemed completely in control until a sudden one-punch knockout.
Justis Huni's courageous attempt at securing the WBA Interim world title was halted by a crushing 10th-round knockout against emerging English contender Fabio Wardley.
The 26-year-old from Brisbane stepped in last minute to substitute the wounded American boxer Jarrell Miller and dominated for nine rounds against a boisterous audience at Portman Road, the home ground of Wardley’s favorite English football club. Ipswich Town.
With a dazzling amateur background, highlighted by a World Championships bronze medal, Huni appeared eager to showcase his skills on the major platform.
From the start, he showcased his striking power, putting Wardley under immense pressure with fierce combos. He relentlessly aimed for the midsection, consistently outscoring him round after round according to the judges' tally.
Huni maintained that he didn’t travel more than 10,000 miles just to create controversy. His sharp right punch, agile movements, and swift hands kept posing challenges for the weary British fighter who was struggling to control Huni as they headed towards the tenth round.
However, at that moment, Wardley managed to produce a remarkable right hook out of thin air, which led to an incredible knockout and triggered jubilant scenes among his ecstatic supporters.

'That's my curse. I even said before this fight it only takes one second to switch off, it happened tonight,' Hunis told DAZN.
'I am thankful to Fabio and his team as well as Ipswich for allowing me to perform in front of you all. Support him; he’s destined for remarkable achievements.'
'The guy’s simply an incredible competitor. He persisted until the end and secured the victory; he absolutely earned it. Thanks to Ipswich for letting me showcase my skills here; I’m really appreciative.'
Wardley, who aims to enhance his standing within the WBA ranks with this victory, expressed admiration for the undefeated Australian boxer, acknowledging his impressive display during the match.
"I may not be as skilled as a Usyk or Justus Huni, but I understand how to secure victories, and that was my main objective tonight," Wardley stated in the ring.
'Justis Huni is an excellent performer. We had gone through all our drills repeatedly. I should have done better in several of those sessions.'
He's an excellent boxer, possessing remarkable skills, and he demonstrated all his abilities tonight. I wasn’t anticipating scoring as many rounds against Justis. In the first round, I managed to land some hits on him and perhaps became overly confident at the start.
