UPDATE English Premier League Transfer News June 8, 2025: 5 New Striker Targets for the Premier League

The summer transfer window opened on June 1st, and clubs have begun strengthening their squads for the 2025/26 season.

As reported by Premier League, there are five attractive attacking stars who might be heading to the English league.

This will be a summer of major attacking player recruitment in the English League and perhaps even the birth of a new generation of stars.

After Kevin De Bruyne left the competition, and with Manchester City being the only one of the top four from the 2024/25 season to have a world-class attacker in their ranks, there are several gaps that need to be filled.

Ada serangkaian pemain bernomor punggung 9 dan 10 yang terkenal dilaporkan menjadi incaran klub-klub Liga Inggris.

There are five new stars that may soon be playing in the main league; five players who, two months from now, could become the foundation of a new English League.

1. Hugo Ekitike

Ekitike is a great player. The 22-year-old scored 15 goals and provided eight assists in 33 Bundesliga games for Eintracht Frankfurt last season, but there is more to his game than just the numbers.

There are not many number 9 players who can rival Ekitike in terms of creativity or strength, dribbling the ball past the defense line.

She created 44 chances, the second-highest total in the division among central attackers, and performed 126 take-ons, the fifth highest among all players and first among central attackers.

He is very smooth in dribbling the ball and inventive in his passing, and possesses all the attributes of a modern number 10 – and that's before we even get to his impressive goal-scoring statistics.

Kenaikan Ekitike has been rapid and dramatic since becoming the first-choice striker after Omar Marmoush left for Man City in January. This might lead some to question the reported transfer fee of around £80 million for a player who has only played one full season at the senior level.

Rayan Cherki

The other player who stood out over the past 12 months is 22-year-old Cherki, a product of Lyon's academy, who after several seasons of being in and out of the team, performed consistently in the 2024/25 season.

I have contributed 19 goals or assists in just 22 starts in Ligue 1, plus 12 from 11 starts in the UEFA Europa League: elite numbers that have caught the attention of top clubs in the Premier League.

But it's true. Cherki is often compared to Lionel Messi, especially because of his short stature and dazzling ball-carrying style reminiscent of the Argentine player. He clearly has abilities similar to Messi's for escaping from tight spaces and creating plays on his own.

However, unlike Messi, Cherki has an entertaining style of play, regularly attempting tricks and skills to dazzle defenders. This is becoming increasingly rare in modern football and a quality that will endear him to Premier League fans.

3. Florian Wirtz

Many players on this list are on the rise. Wirtz is already there, therefore Bayer Leverkusen is reportedly asking for a nine-figure fee for the 22-year-old player.

Wirtz predominantly plays as a nimble and sliding number 10, his rolled-up socks and upright running style showing a playmaker who always seems to be in control - and who makes scoring and creating goals look easy.

I do both equally well. Over the past two seasons, Wirtz has been involved in 67 goals in 75 games across all competitions for Bayer Leverkusen, scoring 34 goals and providing 33 assists.

His creativity outside the penalty area is offset by his ruthlessness inside the penalty area, while Wirtz's ability to dribble the ball through lines is very much in line with the modern trend towards midfielders excelling in transitions.

However, what sets Wirtz apart as a potential Premier League player is his physical strength. He has a walking style that indicates he will adapt quickly to the speed and physicality of English football.

In recent seasons, many up-and-coming world stars seem to have joined clubs in France, Germany, or Spain.

The arrival of Wirtz in England will provide balance.

4. Viktor Gökeres

Viktor Gyokeres can be said to be the most sought-after striker in Europe right now and has been rapidly developing since his struggles at Brighton & Hove Albion and Swansea City when he was younger.

Viktor Gyokeres performed brilliantly under Ruben Amorim's tutelage at Sporting, developing into a versatile attacking midfielder capable of scoring almost every type of goal.

The 27-year-old player is equally great in the air; his flexibility allowed Gyokeres to score an incredible 39 goals in 33 matches in last season's Primeira Liga, and six more in eight games in the UEFA Champions League.

During his two seasons in Portugal, Gyokeres has matched Erling Haaland's goal tally: 79 goals in 83 matches in the Primeira Liga and Champions League.

5. Benjamin Sesko

He may not have the goal-scoring attributes like Gyokeres, but the 22-year-old Sesko has the potential to develop into one of Europe's best forwards.

Sesko scored 21 goals in 45 matches across all competitions for RB Leipzig last season, including 13 goals in the Bundesliga and four goals in six Champions League matches.

The two goals against Juventus in the league phase marked a moment of maturity for Sesko, who has continued to develop since arriving from RB Salzburg in the summer of 2023.

Comparison with Haaland cannot be avoided, especially since Sesko has the same height, 6 feet 4 inches, is fast, and strong in the penalty area.

However, he might still be a bit raw, and after scoring only 13 goals in the Bundesliga, the prospect of leading the forward line for a top-flight Premier League club could put unwanted pressure on the young striker with the number 9 jersey, who has been inconsistent in front of goal.

DEAL Official Transfer in English Premier League

Here is the transfer market for clubs in the English Premier League on Sunday, June 8, 2025.

There are some clubs that are still conducting processes, while others have already announced transfers, which will end in the first period on June 10.

Like Arsenal moving forward with a deal to sign Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and expected to trigger the release clause of his contract worth £5 million.

After completing his stint, Kepa will compete with David Raya after Neto returns to Bournemouth from his loan at Emirates. Kepa was loaned to Bournemouth last season.
