Trump Warns Musk: Support Democrats, Face Serious Consequences

US President Donald Trump made it evident on Saturday that he had no interest in mending ties with his erstwhile ally and campaign supporter, Elon Musk. Trump cautioned Musk that he might encounter "severe repercussions" should he choose to support the opposition.

During a telephone interview with NBC’s Kristen Welker, Trump stated that he does not plan to reconcile with Musk. When directly questioned about whether this implies an end to his relationship with the multi-billionaire head of Tesla and SpaceX, Trump replied, "Yeah, I would think so."

I'm preoccupied with other matters," Trump went on. "As you know, I secured a landslide victory in the election. I provided him with numerous advantages well before these events took place. During my initial term, I offered him several concessions and even played a role in saving his life. Therefore, I see no reason to engage in conversation with him.

The US president additionally delivered a cautionary statement as rumours circulated that Musk might support Democratic legislators and contenders in the 2026 midterm elections.

"If he goes ahead with it, he will have to face the repercussions," Trump stated to NBC, but did not specify what these consequences might entail. Musk's enterprises hold numerous profitable government contracts.

This development follows a dramatic rift in the relationship between the US President and the planet’s wealthiest individual due to Trump's budget bill, which Musk started to criticize on his social media platform X earlier in the week.

Musk cautioned that the legislation would lead to an escalation in the federal deficit and labeled it as a "repulsive monstrosity."

Based on analysis from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, this legislation aims to cut both expenditures and tax rates; however, it would result in approximately 10.9 million additional individuals lacking health coverage and could increase budget shortfalls by around $2.4 trillion throughout ten years.

On Thursday, Trump took aim at Musk over his forceful response to the "big beautiful bill" currently awaiting approval from Congress. Soon after, they started exchanging harsh personal jibes online, which left both the White House and Republican congressional leadership trying to gauge the consequences of their feud.

As the exchange escalated, Musk proposed that Trump ought to face impeachment and alleged, without providing proof, that authorities were withholding details regarding the president’s connection to the notorious paedophile Jeffrey Epstein. However, it seems Musk may have retreated from this assertion as he removed his tweet mentioning Epstein over the weekend.

In an interview with "manosphere" comedian Theo Von, US Vice President JD Vance attempted to diminish the conflict. He told Von that Musk was committing a "significant error" by targeting Trump, describing Musk as an "emotionally charged individual" who gets easily agitated.

"I am hopeful that someday Elon will return to the group. It might be unlikely at this point since he has taken such an extreme stance," Vance stated.

Vance referred to Musk as "an incredible entrepreneur" and stated that Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, aimed at reducing public expenditure and resulting in the dismissal or forced departure of numerous employees, was "highly effective."

The US Vice President said the bill's central goal was not to cut spending but to extend the 2017 tax cuts approved in Trump’s first term.

It’s a solid bill," Vance stated. "But it’s far from flawless.
