Rural Police Arrest Family Members in Triple Murder Case

A week and a half following the finding of three deceased individuals—a mother and her two offspring—at Khandale village close to Ranjangaon, law enforcement from the Pune Rural Police arrested Gorakh Popat Bokhare, who is the 36-year-old husband’s brother of the slain woman.
A resident of Saradwadi village in Shirur named Bokhare faced charges for murdering the trio from May 23 to 24. It is alleged that he throttled them, hit them with a rock, and partly incinerated their remains post-mortem.
"The reason for these violent actions was a family dispute," stated Pune Rural SP Sandeep Singh Gill on Saturday.
Inspector Mahadev Waghmode of the Ranjangaon MIDC police brought Bokhare, who was driving both a water tanker and a garbage van and had his face concealed, before a magistrate court in Shirur. The court decided to keep him in custody until June 16.
On May 25, law enforcement officers found the partly burned bodies of Swati Keshav Sonawane (25) and her children Swaraj (3) and Viraj (1). These victims were from Majalgaon in the Beed district and their remains were located along the Khandale village road.
Gill stated, "The progress in the investigation occurred following the deployment of several teams consisting of 28 officers each, who were sent throughout the state to collect information about missing individuals. A matching description was discovered in a report filed by Swati's spouse, Keshav Sonawane, from Beed."
He stated, “Sonawane’s comment directed the investigation team to Alandi, where they discovered information regarding Swati departing with Bokhare. The inquiry uncovered that Bokhire was related to Swati as a cousin. He frequently helped resolve conflicts between Swati and her spouse. Subsequently, Swati and Bokhare became romantically involved.”
Gill stated that when Swati visited Alandi, she demanded marriage from Bokhare, which led to conflicts. The official mentioned, “On the evening of May 23rd, Bokhare rode off on a motorbike with Swati and her kids towards an abandoned path close to Khandale village. After engaging in private moments followed by a dispute, he choked Swati while the children slept nearby. Later, he also ended their lives,” the officer recounted.
"In order to avoid detection, he got gasoline from a filling station, soaked the remains, and escaped. Later, Bokhare resumed his job as a driver in Ranjangaon and continued with his regular routine," he mentioned.
