Man Charged for Allegedly Choking Boy, 11, at Soccer Match: Authorities Call It a 'Serious Matter'
- Reportedly took place in Perth's northern area on May 25.
- A man, aged 46, has been charged by the police in Perth.
- Will appear at Joondalup Magistrates Court on June 6th.
A 46-year-old man has faced charges for allegedly grabbing a young child by the throat during a youth football game.
The police mentioned that the incident involved a man presumed to be a guardian from an opposing team. He apparently went up to an 11-year-old boy during a game held at Abbeville Park in Mindarie. Perth 'on May 25th, head north.'
The man has faced charges for obstructing another individual’s regular breathing or blood flow by exerting pressure on their neck.
The child did not need medical care.
The Mindarie Football Club has subsequently termed the purported behavior as a 'major issue' and is thought to be aiding the child and their family.
"Even though enthusiasm and rivalry are integral parts of football, we should never forget that the sport is primarily meant for the players — particularly the young ones," stated club President Lee Hughes.

The Football West CEO, Jamie Harnwell, similarly characterized the purported incident as a 'highly serious issue.'
"It’s incredibly distressing for an individual to reportedly touch someone else’s child, considering I am a parent myself and hold the sport in high regard," the ex-A-League player stated to ABC Radio Perth.
Harnwell mentioned that it was a one-off occurrence.
"We see around 1,500 to 2,000 gaming sessions each weekend, and we definitely haven’t come across anything of this sort happening," he stated.
We put in considerable effort through our clubs to back them up, promoting proper conduct during matches and training sessions.
'Our objective is to ensure that everyone attending a football game comprehends the expectations set for them.'
Football West stated to the ABC that they will collaborate with law enforcement regarding the said issue.
The man is scheduled to appear at the Joondalup Magistrates Court on June 6th.
