A 46-year-old man has faced charges following an incident where he reportedly seized a young child by the throat during a youth soccer game.
The police mentioned that they think the man might have been someone accompanying another team. He apparently went up to an 11-year-old boy during a game taking place at Abbevie Park in Mindarie. Perth 'head north on May 25.
The man faces charges for obstructing someone’s regular breathing or blood flow through the application of neck pressure.
The child didn’t need medical care.
The Mindarie Football Club has subsequently termed the alleged behavior as a 'major issue' and is thought to be assisting the child and their family.
"Even though enthusiasm and rivalry are key parts of football, we should never forget that the game belongs to the players — particularly the youngsters," stated club president Lee Hughes.

The Football West chief executive officer, Jamie Harnwell, similarly characterized the supposed incident as a 'highly serious issue.'
"Having someone supposedly lay their hands on another person’s child is incredibly distressing, particularly for a parent with children and an ardent fan of the sport," said the ex-A-League player during an interview with ABC Radio Perth.
Harnwell mentioned this was a one-off occurrence.
"We see around 1,500 to 2,000 games taking place each weekend, and we definitely haven’t come across anything of this nature," he stated.
We put considerable effort into assisting our clubs to foster positive conduct during matches and training sessions.
'We want everyone attending a football game to clearly understand what’s expected of them.'
Football West stated to the ABC that they will work alongside law enforcement regarding the mentioned issue.
The man is scheduled to appear at the Joondalrup Magistrate Court on June 6th.
