Pakistan Closes Airspace Following India's Cowardly Strikes; Flights Grounded

On May 7, Pakistan responded forcefully to India’s unprovoked missile attacks on its territory by shutting down its airspace and halting all international flights. Aviation officials stated that a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) had been released, declaring the nation's airspace off-limits for the next 48 hours as a safeguard measure.

Flight activities at Islamabad International Airport have been put on hold indefinitely, and similarly, Lahore Airport has stopped all departing flights. Over 25 flights have been cancelled, affecting routes to destinations such as Doha, Dubai, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Riyadh.

The missile attacks that took place in Bahawalpur, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad were verified by the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry. He denounced the Indian assault as an act of cowardice and warned that India would receive a “severe retaliation” for its hostile actions.

The DG ISPR stated, “India’s brief sense of elation will quickly transform into enduring suffering and distress.” Prior to the incident in Bahawalpur, eyewitnesses observed a vivid burst of light in the heavens. Informants from both Muzaffarabad and Bahawalpur verified hearing intense detonations, along with a total power outage being reported in Muzaffarabad.

The intensifying circumstances have caused increased strain between the two countries, leading to urgent security actions such as halting air travel. People are awaiting more information regarding canceled flights and potential military reactions.
