Multiple Agencies Rush to Quell Memorial Day Fire in South Macon

MACON County, Ill. (WCIA) – On Monday, the South Macon Fire Department managed to put out a structure that was entirely ablaze and successfully stopped the fire from extending to adjacent buildings.
Around 11:20 a.m., firefighters were called to deal with a building fire. Upon their arrival, they discovered one structure that was completely engulfed in flames and situated near several buildings as well as grain silos.
The Mt. Zion, South Wheatland, Blue Mound, Long Creek, Niantic, and Bethany fire departments offered mutual assistance and effectively confined the blaze to the initial structure. Additionally, support was rendered by the South Macon Fire Department, Abbott Ambulance, Macon County Sheriffs Deputies, along with Montey and Cody Holsapple.
