Atiku Responds to Bwala: "I Remain the Most Formidable Opposition Figure" – International Edition (English)
Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar claims he is the toughest opponent figure in the nation.
He further stated that the alliance he is building signifies a significant power and threat to the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Atiku Media Office criticized the Special Advisor to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Daniel Bwala, following his recent television interview on TVC. They accused him of making comments that were both disrespectful and derogatory.
The statement says: "It is both ironic and lamentable that Mr. Bwala—a political flip-flopper who previously acted as the spokesman for Atiku Abubakar’s 2023 presidential bid—now dares to offer advice to a globally respected statesman regarding issues of legacy, fate, and retirement."

His self-righteous speeches, filled with cynicism and deceit, reveal a frantic attempt to gain favor with an administration struggling as the rising strength of the national coalition led by Atiku and other forward-thinking leaders gains traction.
It must be unequivocally clarified: Atiku Abubakar does not seek or require endorsement from those political opportunist individuals who discard their principles just as quickly as they switch allegiances between parties. The present significance of Mr. Bwala, assuming he has any at all, is solely due to his past position within Atiku’s administration—a reality that ought to foster modesty rather than pride.
The statement also pointed out that the Tinubu camp’s preoccupation with Atiku’s political prospects is not accidental.
If their claims hold true, and Atiku is indeed a fading leader, then why does this constant negative publicity persist? And why do they dedicate so much effort towards criticizing him from these high-profile positions? It’s simple—Atiku Abubakar continues to be the strongest adversary for the current administration in Nigeria. Moreover, his growing alliance poses an imminent threat to the weakening structure of the ruling political party.
This wide-ranging coalition, designed to rescue Nigeria from economic decline, systemic breakdown, and the weakening of democracy, has undoubtedly unsettled those in power. Regardless of attempts at rewriting history or acting morally superior, it remains undeniable that Atiku has been a key figure in Nigeria’s democratic progress since 1999, advocating for reforms, realignment, and fair elections even as many opted for collusion.
Legacy isn’t measured by one's position in office but rather by their bravery, steadfastness, and principles. Atiku Abubakar’s legacy—shaped through his roles as a uniter, constructor, and loyal citizen—is indelibly imprinted in the minds of millions of Nigerians. This enduring mark remains unaffected by the spiteful rhetoric from those who once abandoned ship only to become champions of disorder.
We firmly assert that Waziri Adamawa stays unwaveringly committed to Nigeria’s future. Political clowns pretending to be nationalists won’t divert him from this path. Rescuing and reconstructing Nigeria is an essential national priority—too crucial to be sidetracked by the trivial egos of ambitious White House staff.
